LEHIGH, Pa. – Senior Pat Donnelly, junior Logan Mohn, and Saint Joseph’s 4x4 of Kevin Barry, Nick Beninato, David Furmann, and Christian Kuntz won their respective individual and relay events to lead the Saint Joseph’s men’s track and field team at the Lehigh Games on Saturday afternoon. 

Donnelly won the 5k in a field of 20 competitors. Donnelly crossed the finish line in 15:17.89 to finish more than 10 seconds in front of Evan Ward, the runner-up out of Lehigh. The win marks Donnelly’s first victory in an individual event for his collegiate career on Hawk Hill.

Saint Joseph’s school-record holder in the 3000m steeplechase, Mohn won the event in 9:28.70. Freshman Dan Savage finished just 2.6 seconds behind Mohn to claim second place in 9:31.30.

Saint Joseph’s 4x4 of Barry, Beninato, Furman, and Kuntz won the event in 3:26.34. The group edged out host-school Lehigh’s 4x4 by .57 seconds.

Barry also ran the 400m in a personal-record 50.04 to take fifth in a field of 29 sprinters while Beninato represented the Hawks with a seventh-place finish in the 400H (57.95 PR).

Senior Tom O’Kane and freshman Jack Magee finished third and fourth, respectively, in the 800m. O’Kane checked in at 1:57.11 while Magee crossed the finish line in 1:57.21. 

Senior Mike Yap posted a mark of 6.14m in the long jump to take ninth for the Hawks while freshman Prince Charles Yakubu recorded a mark of 12.52m in the triple jump for sixth place. 

A pair of rookies in freshmen Andy Arencibia (200m, 23.38) and Kevin Trimmer (1500m, 4:14.67) took 11th and 24th, respectively, to round out SJU’s event leaders on the day. 

Saint Joseph’s returns to action next weekend at the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Amherst, Massachusetts from Saturday, May 3 through Sunday, May 4.
