BRONX, N.Y. – Junior Logan Mohn and senior Aaron Leskow took home second- and third-place finishes as the Saint Joseph's men's cross country team took home the silver medal at the 2013 IC4A Championship on Saturday morning. The Hawks accumulated 69 points and an average tme of 25:28.84 in the 8k race that saw 87 runners from 10 teams compete. Georgetown won the meet with 43 points while Georgetown's John Murray was the individual champion in 24:56.60.
"The team had decided that they didn't want to end the season with last week's race, since the season had gone much better than that race indicated," said head coach Mike Glavin of his team's silver-medal performance on Saturday. "I'd say that they reached their goal. Our five-man average was 42 seconds per man faster than we ran at the Iona Meet of Champions in September of this year on the same course, and 10 seconds per man faster than the Hawks did last year when we took third at the IC4As."
Both paced by a 3:07 kilometer average, Mohn crossed the finish line in 25:04.10, followed closely by Leskow in 25:04.40. With their top-15 finish, Mohn and Leskow earned IC4A All-Star honors.
Joining the duo on the All-Star team is sophomore Quinn Davis, who checked in with a 15th-place finish in 25:36.10.
Redshirt senior Pat Donnelly (26:15.60), senior Michael Rankin (26:22.30), and freshman Jimmy Daniels (26:32.10) took 40th, 43rd, and 49th respectively. Freshman Dan Savage (26:35.10) and senior Sean Staltari (26:59.50) took 52nd and 66th to round out SJU's championship ten.
Freshman Michael K. Cassidy led all competitors in the IC4A Coaches’ men’s race with a time of 27:12.20. Classmate Kevin Trimmer also checked in with a top-ten finish, crossing the finish line in 27:35.10 for sixth.
