BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Saint Joseph’s women’s cross country team took 13th at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional on Friday afternoon with a total time of 1:49.22 and 391 points. Hosted by Lehigh University on the course of the Goodman Campus, the 6k race saw 207 runners from 29 teams compete. Villanova won the meet with 31 points.

Continuing her outstanding senior campaign, Lizzy Barrett led all Hawks with a 43rd-place finish in 21:21, paced by a 5:44 mile to post 42 points for the Hawks. Barrett has posted her top fastest 6k times this season at Lehigh, with her season-best and PR (21:16) coming at the Paul Short Open back on October 5.

Sophomore Lauren Hehir finished second for the Hawks and 68th overall in 21:40, demolishing her 6k PR by 35 seconds.

Seniors Erin Giampietro and Emma Slattery crossed the finish line in 95th and 96th, respectively. Each clocked in at 22:02, paced by a 5:55 mile. Giampietro improves upon her 6k PR by 41 seconds while Slattery posts her best 6k time of the season by 22 seconds.

In her second race of the season, senior Erin James followed closely behind her veteran teammates with a 110th-place finish in 22:17.

In their first Mid-Atlantic Regional appearances, freshman Alexandra Fiesel and sophomore Emily Chaundy rounded out the placing for SJU with 161st- and 167th-place finishes, respectively. Fiesel’s time of 23:29 marks a new PR for the rookie while Chaundy’s 23:41 is a three-second improvement on her PR.

The Hawks will close out the 2013 cross country season at the ECAC Championship on Saturday, November 23 at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y. Start time is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
