The Hawks were chosen eighth in the preseason poll; their highest rank came as a seventh-spot as announced on Oct. 21.
No stranger to the Goodman Campus, the Hawks ran the course back on October 5 as part of the Paul Short Invitational 8k. Senior Aaron Leskow (18th) and junior Logan Mohn (19th) dominated for Saint Joseph’s as the squad took 12th out of 47 teams.
The Hawks are coming off of a phenomenal second-place finish at the Atlantic 10 Championship two weekends ago, where All-Conference selections Leskow (3rd) and Mohn (5th) led the way for the Hawks for the fifth consecutive meet.
At the 2012 Mid-Atlantic Regional, the men’s squad took home a seventh-place finish out of 25 teams. The Hawks will be without their top-two finishers from last season as current junior Paul Szulewski has been sidelined by injury this season and graduate student Jon Mazzio has exhausted his cross country eligibility. However, SJU does return its three other top-five finishers from last season’s meet in Mohn (31:24), senior Michael Rankin (31:52, 10k PR), and Leskow (32:09, 10k PR).
The women’s squad enters Friday’s race ranked 13th in the region. Georgetown remains atop the rankings for the seventh consecutive poll. The Hawks were chosen 11th in the preseason poll, and their highest rank came as a 10th-spot as announced on Oct. 7.

At the 2012 Mid-Atlantic Regional, the women’s squad finished 11th out of 31 teams. The Hawks return their top finisher from that meet in senior Erin James, who finished 39th in 2012 and made her season debut at the A-10 Championship on November 2. The Hawks will be short senior Hannah Fuller, who has not competed since the first meet of the season, and Emily Chappell but return Barrett and Hehir from SJU's 2012 Mid-Atlantic top five.
Barrett has lead the Hawks in all six races this season while Hehir an Giampietro have placed in SJU’s top five six and five times, respectively. Senior Emma Slattery has also been phenomenal in her last three meets back, including a 36th-place finish at A-10s.
