PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's men's soccer team will close out its regular-season home schedule with matches against George Mason and VCU this weekend. The Hawks will host the Patriots of George Mason on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and the Rams of VCU on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
Saint Joseph's will look to bounce back from three consecutive losses having dropped Atlantic 10 matches to St. Bonaventure, Duquesne, and La Salle in the past two weeks. Atlantic 10 opponents hold a 44-39 edge in shots and 20-13 shot on goal advantage on the Hawks. However, the Hawks rank second in the Atlantic 10 in shots (172) and shots per game (13.23).
Forwards Ryan McFadden and Emmanuel Temeh and midfielders Tim Lazorko, Pat McGlynn, and Jimmy Reilly each landed two shots on goal in the past three matches. For the season, junior midfielder Jake Nelson (4G), Lazorko (2G, 2A), junior forward Alex Critzos (2G), and Reilly (1G, 2A) lead the Hawks in scoring.
Redshirt senior goalkeeper Andrew D’Ottavi is averaging 4.0 saves per game in Atlantic 10
action. The veteran currently owns 343 saves and needs six to tie for fourth place on SJU’s
all-time list for career saves. D'Ottavi (2-6-5) sports a 1.54 goals-against average and .704 saves percentage off of 50 saves in 1225:00.
PROMOTION: YOUTH SOCCER ACADEMY NIGHT
The Hawks would like to welcome members of the South Jersey Elite Barons (SJEB) to Youth Soccer Academy Night on Hawk Hill prior to SJU's match against George Mason on Friday evening. All members of the SJEB will be welcomed to participate in the pre-game player introductions. In addition, SJEB members will be brought onto the field at halftime, greeted by the SJU Hawk Mascot, acknowledged and brought together for a large camp group photo.

SCOUTING GEORGE MASON
Steffen Kraus made five saves in a full 110:00 as the Patriots battled to a scoreless draw with VCU on Oct. 20. George Mason’s two losses on the season came in Virginia and UMBC in late September. Wes Sever (4G, 1A), Jannik Eckenrode (3G, 1A), Hugh Roberts (1G, 3A), and Julio Arjona (1G, 2A) lead the Patriots’ offense. Kraus sports a league-best 0.67 GAA and .767 saves percentage in 940:00. George Mason leads the league in least goals allowed, giving up just seven tallies on the season to average 0.70 goals per game throughout 10 games. In Atlantic 10 action, the Patriots have defeated Massachusetts (2-1) and tied with VCU (0-0).
PROMOTION: SENIOR DAY
The men's soccer program will honor its 10 graduating seniors - Andrew D'Ottavi, Ryan McFadden, Pat McGlynn, Michael Moulton, Sam Pozzessere, Brendan Reilly, Colin Reilly, Jimmy Reilly, Brian Reynolds, and Connor Widerman - in a Senior Day celebration scheduled to begin 20 minutes prior to the opening kickoff.
Sunday's match will mark the first between the two programs.
Andrew Wells made seven saves in a full 110:00 as the Rams battled to a scoreless draw with VCU on Oct. 20. Prior to the draw, VCU won four straight, including a 1-0 win over defending national champion Indiana. Kharlton Belmar (4G), Jose Manel (3G, 3A), and Dennis Castillo (3G, 1A) lead the Rams’ offense. Wells owns five shutouts and sports a 1.03 GAA and .806 saves percentage in 1226:40. VCU averages the least amount of yellow cards in the A-10, totally just 10 for 0.77 cards per game. In Atlantic 10 action, the Rams have defeated Massachusetts (4-0) and Rhode Island (3-1) and tied with George Mason (0-0). VCU will play at La Salle this Friday, October 25.
