PRINCETON, N.J. - Continuing her sensational final campaign, senior captain Lizzy Barrett took home a seventh-place individual finish to lead the Saint Joseph's women's cross country squad to an eighth-place team finish at the Princeton Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Hosted by Princeton University on the course of West Windsor Field, the 6k race saw 206 runners from 25 schools compete.

In a senior season in which she has dominated the cross country scene, Barrett's improvements from last season are evident when comparing her performance from the 2012 Princeton Invitational. This year, Barrett crossed the finish line in 21:51, paced by a 5:52 mile. Last season, Barrett placed 10th in 21:58, paced by a 5:54 mile. With the top-ten finish, Barrett led the Hawks for the fifth consecutive time this season.

Checking in with a 32nd-place finish, senior captain Emma Slattery crossed the finish line in 22:27, paced by a 6:02 mile. After being sidelined by injury for the latter part of September, Slattery has bounced back with two solid 6k performances heading into the Atlantic 10 Championship in two weekends.

Redshirt senior Erin Giampietro continued to prove herself a consistent factor in the Hawks' top five as she posted a new 6k PR of 22:43, paced by a 6:06 mile. In a race that saw only five seconds separate the 44th- and 51st-place finishers, Giampietro's time was good for 49th.

Closely behind, sophomore Lauren Hehir crossed the finish line fourth for the Crimson and Gray and 52nd overall in 22:46, paced by a 6:07 mile.

Freshman Sarah Regnault (115th) and sophomore Emily Chaundy (116th) rounded out SJU's top six. Both posted PR times of 23:44 and were paced by 6:22 miles.

In the open race, the Hawks took seventh out of 10 teams. Freshman Alexandra Fiesel took 14th in a personal-record 23:47 to lead SJU's open runners.

Saint Joseph's will take next weekend off from competition to prepare for the Atlantic 10 Championships, scheduled for Saturday, November 2 in Mechanicsville, Va. Start time is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
