BRONX, N.Y. - Led by senior captain Elizabeth Barrett’s third-place finish in a field of 190 runners, the Saint Joseph’s women’s cross country squad compiled 212 points to take seventh out of 20 teams at Iona’s Meet of Champions on Saturday morning. The 6k race was held at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y.

For the third time in as many races, Barrett led all Hawks, this time earning the bronze medal in 22:30.87. Barrett was paced by a 6:03 mile average en route to posting the top senior time at the meet and leading SJU to the seventh-place team finish. The senior crossed the finish line just four seconds after the silver medalist (22:26.72) and just one minute after the meet champion (21:31.03), both out of Iona.

Redshirt senior Maureen O'Donnell crossed the finish line in 30th in 23:45.69. Paced by a 6:23 mile, O’Donnell missed a top 20 finish by just 10 seconds. O'Donnell finished in SJU's top five for the second time in as many meets in her comeback season.

In their first collegiate races on the course of Van Cortlandt Park, redshirt senior Erin Giampietro (24:14.75) and sophomore Lauren Hehir (24:16.95) both averaged 6:31 miles to finish in 56th- and 57th-place, respectively.

In her first collegiate 6k, freshman Sarah Regnault continued her impressive rookie campaign, posting SJU’s top freshman time for the third consecutive meet in 24:41.04 for a 67th-place finish.

Junior Taylor Oskowiak continued to impress this weekend. After finish third for SJU last weekend at Belmont, Oskowiak checked in with a 70th-place finish on Saturday afternoon. In a time of 24:43.22, Oskowiak took nearly 20 entire seconds off of her previous PR in the 6k (25:02.00), posted at last season's Princeton Invitational.

After running unattached at the Friend Big 5 Invitational last weekend, freshman Jacqueline Pignataro made her collegiate debut on Saturday afternoon. Pignataro checked in with a 141st-place finish in 26:42.27.

The Hawks will return to action two weekends from today at the Paul Short Open. Hosted by Lehigh University on the course of the the Goodman Campus in Bethlehem, Pa., the meet will kick off at 10:00 a.m.
