Nelson, West and Barley Keeping Busy With NBA Workouts

PHILADELPHIA (6/3/04)- Saint Joseph's stars Jameer Nelson, Delonte West and Tyrone Barley have been showcasing their basketball skills to NBA teams over the past few weeks, as the NBA Draft approaches later this month.

Nelson, the consensus National Player of the Year, has already participated in workouts for Portland, Golden State, the LA Clippers, Phoenix, Utah, Cleveland, and Toronto. He is also scheduled to work out for the expansion Charlotte Bobcats on Saturday and the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday, June 7. Nelson, an anticipated first-round draft choice, will attend next week's Chicago Pre-Draft camp to partake only in a physical and media opportunities.

West declared himself eligible for the Draft, but has until June 17 to withdraw. Since West has not hired an agent, he would be able to return to Saint Joseph's for his senior year.

The 6-4 junior guard received and accepted an invitation to the Pre-Draft camp in Chicago, which runs from June 8 to 11. West has also been keeping a busy travel schedule and has worked out for a number of teams, including Portland, New Jersey and Atlanta.

Barley attended his first NBA workout on June 3, when he visited the Orlando Magic.

The NBA Draft will be held on June 24 at Madison Square Garden.
