ORLANDO, Fla. - The Saint Joseph's women's tennis team kicked off its three-match stretch at the USTA National Campus on Wednesday night with a 4-1 victory over Lees-McRae.

Opening the match in doubles play, the Hawks took all three flights to claim the opening point. Amanda Nava and Isis Gill-Reid teamed for a 6-1 win over Zeynep Cakirer and Mackenzie Langmade of Lees-McRae at the top flight, while rookies Alex Kramer and Paige Conrad downed Sandy Allen and Nursharneem Shamsuddin, 6-4, at No. 2 doubles. Katherine Devlin and Iswarya Vel made it a clean sweep for the Hawks in doubles play with a 6-2 win in the third flight.

Moving to singles play, Nava earned her eighth straight win at No. 1 singles with a 6-3, 6-1 decision over Cakirer. Conrad earned a 6-4, 6-2 victory against Allen at the second flight, while Devlin closed out the win with a 6-4, 6-3 win versus Langmade at No. 4 singles.

"The ladies got in the win column with solid play over a scrappy Lees-McRae team. The match was clinched by Katherine Devlin playing in the No. 4 slot," said head coach Ian Crookenden.

The Hawks (1-7) continue play in Orlando, Florida versus Western Carolina on Thursday.
