WESTON, Fla. - Saint Joseph's junior Richard Riva picked up a pair of individual victories on Monday as the Hawks' golf team opened the spring portion of their schedule at the Atlantic 10 Match Play. 

Playing at the par 72 Weston Hills County Club (6,910 yards), Saint Joseph's opened play versus FAU as Riva earned a point for the Hawks with a 1 up victory over Brian Dolehide. Senior Ross Pilliod and rookie J.T. Spina finished their matches all squared with Sully Zagerman and Karan Nalam, respectively, but the Owls pulled away for the win, 4-2, with victories in the other two matches.

Facing Morehead State in the second round robin match of the day, Saint Joseph's picked up a pair of singles wins behind Riva and classmate Tommy Lewis. Riva won 4 and 3 over Zach Smith, while Lewis downed Tyler Hillyer 2 up.

Junior Michael O'Brien squared his match with Nick Wilkins, however Morehead State picked up wins in the other three matches to earn the win, 3.5 - 2.5.

Competing as an individual, junior Reed Winkler went 1-1 on the day in two matches. Winkler opened with a 2 up victory over George Washington's Yoo Gin Kim, but fell to Oakland's Owen Tucci, 3 and 2, in the second match.

The Hawks cap play at the A-10 Match Play at 7 a.m. on Tuesday versus George Mason.
