• SJU fell to Saint Louis, 68-57, in the A-10 ESPN Friday Night Showcase last week. Jared Bynum scored 18 points and handed out eight assists while Taylor Funk had his first career-double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds
• Saint Joseph’s suffered key losses in the Duquesne game (Jan. 12) with injuries to Pierfrancesco Oliva and Lamarr Kimble. Oliva is out for the year and Kimble will be sidelined indefinitely. Anthony Longpré now joins the injured list with a concussion
• Saint Joseph’s continues to rank second in the nation in turnovers per game, with an average of 9.4. Freshman Jared Bynum tops the A-10 and ranks 34th in the nation in assist/turnover ratio with 2.9 per game

• Due to injuries, the number of available full scholarship players has been reduced to just seven
Phil Martelli and staff will be wearing sneakers for the annual Suits and Sneakers Week, the Coaches vs. Cancer initiative. They will be wearing gold laces in memory of Lace Holsworth, while Martelli will be wearing a special Coaches vs. Cancer tie

Jared Bynum was named the A-10 Co-Rookie of the Week for Jan. 21, earning weekly honors for the second time this year
• The freshman averaged 15.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 8.5 assists per game in the Hawks’ 1-1 week. He also grabbed four steals in the two games
• He started out the week by scoring 12 points, grabbing seven rebounds and handing out a career-high nine assists in the Hawks’ 61-60 win over Davidson
• Bynum followed that with a team-high 18 points, six rebounds and eight assists in SJU’s loss at league-leading Saint Louis

• It is Suits and Sneakers Week, a Coaches vs. Cancer initiative where the nation’s coaches will be wearing sneakers on the sidelines to raise awareness in the fight against cancer. Phil Martelli and staff will be participating in both games this week
• The coaches will be wearing gold laces in memory of Lacey Holsworth, who lost her battle with cancer at the age of eight
• Martelli will also be wearing a specially-designed Coaches vs. Cancer tie, courtesy of Vineyard Vines
• Martelli is passionate for his work with Coaches vs. Cancer. He is the co-chair of the Philadelphia Coaches vs. Cancer effort, which is one of the nation’s highest fundraising groups; comprised of the city’s six Division I coaches and their wives, the group has raised over $14 million

• The Hawks finally got two days off this past weekend after finishing a stretch of 18 straight days with games or practices. They had six games in the 18 days from Jan. 1 to 18
• But SJU is now in the midst of nine days without a break, which includes three games

• Saint Joseph’s has certainly faced its share of significant injuries in three consecutive years with the current ones to Pierfrancesco Oliva and Lamarr Kimble
• Oliva will miss the rest of the season and Kimble will be sidelined indefinitely as both sustained injuries in the Hawks’ loss at Duquesne on Jan. 12
• Oliva, a redshirt junior forward, dislocated his left knee in the first half of the game and has ligament damage. He will require surgery but his rehabilitation timetable is unspecified
• Kimble, a redshirt junior guard, suffered a fracture in his right hand in the second half
• Anthony Longpre' has been added to the injured list after suffering a concussion at Saint Louis, and is out for tonight
