ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Saint Joseph’s men’s tennis team concluded its fall slate at the Navy Invitational on Sunday afternoon. Senior Peter Dewitt and freshman Sam Sauter claimed victories in singles play, while Sauter and sophomore Beekman Schaeffer combined for a doubles triumph.
Dewitt cruised past Navy’s Gabriel Pilones, 6-3, 6-1, while Sauter claimed an 8-5 win over teammate Alex MacNeil.
On the doubles docket, Sauter and Schaeffer earned a 6-4 win over Walker Sims and Aries Wong of the host Midshipmen.
“Peter had a good win on the final day,” head coach Ian Crookenden said. “[The event] was a very rewarding playing experience, especially for our freshmen.”
The Hawks will break for the end of the semester and return to action on January 27 when they host Chestnut Hill at the Springton Indoor Tennis Center in Media, Pennsylvania.
