LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Saint Joseph’s men’s tennis team wrapped up its participation in the 2017 ITA Atlantic Regionals on Saturday.

Senior Tim Stierle came away with a win in the singles consolation draw, topping Jabari Stafford of George Washington in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4.

Elsewhere in the consolation draw, senior Peter Dewitt and sophomore Beekman Schaeffer dropped tough three-set results to opponents from George Mason and Mount St. Mary’s, respectively.  Dewitt fell to Pally Ray, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3, while Schaeffer went down to Brandon Wortkotter, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4.

Schaeffer and freshman Johnnie Massart dropped their second round main doubles draw match, falling 8-2 to Penn State’s Christos Antonopolous and Alp Sentay.

The Hawks return to action in three weeks at the Navy Invitational.
