PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's junior Taylor Ryan's double-overtime goal in the 109th minute lifted the Hawks' women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Fordham and a berth in the 2017 Atlantic 10 Championship.

With the victory, the Hawks clinched a spot in the A-10 Championship by moving into seventh place (14 points) in the conference standings, ahead of Massachusetts (13) and Dayton (11 points). While Saint Joseph's caps the regular season at St. Bonaventure on Sunday, the Minutewomen and the Flyers - the only teams who could potentially catch the Hawks - face each other.

In a match controlled by Saint Joseph's (9-5-3) for a majority of the time, a Fordham goal with 36 seconds to play in regulation force ovetime

After a scoreless first overtime, the Hawks' struck the decisive blow off a set piece with less than two minutes to play. Junior Paige Bergman drilled a free kick from midfield towards the left side of the Fordham box where Ryan, positioned near the left post, headed the ball past the Fordham goalkeeper's Kelly La Morte to give SJU the 2-1 win at 108:33.

Saint Joseph's opened the scoring at 42:56 as Hannah Racis pounced on a rebound off a save by LaMorte and found the back of the net to make it 1-0.

With time winding down, the Rams (5-8-5, 2-5-2 A-10) battled back to force overtime. Despite the Hawks trying to stall on the offensive end, Fordham quickly moved the ball up the field and off a pass into the box by Natalie Sims, Carlie Wagner cut to the goal and deflected the pass into an opening to make it 1-1 at 89:24.

Despite the momentum swing, Saint Joseph's regrouped as Ryan connected on her second goal of the season in the second overtime.

For the game, the Hawks finished with a 29-13 edge in shots and 6-3 difference in corner kicks.

In net, junior Grace Bendon made a pair of saves to improve to 9-5-3 on the year, while Kylie D'Ambra earned an assist on the opening goal

Sunday's regular season finale at the Bonnies is set for a 1 p.m. start.
