RICHMOND, Va. - Saint Joseph's Michaela Finneyfrock and Morgan Bower each tallied a goal and goalkeeper Grace Bendon posted four saves to lead the Hawks' women's soccer team to a 2-0 win at Richmond in their Atlantic 10 opener on Thursday evening.

After a scoreless first half, SJU (6-2-1, 1-0-0 A-10) struck quickly in the second half as Michaela Finneyfrock opened the scoring in the 51st minute. Off a free kick by Paige Bergman, Finneyfrock headed the incoming ball and directed it into the open net to give the Hawks at 1-0 edge at 50:01.

Less than 10 minutes later, Bower pushed the lead to 2-0 as she drilled home a shot at 59:47 with Gabrielle Vagnozzi and Bridget Galen assisting on the play.

Ahead by two, Bendon and the Hawks' defense made the lead stand as Richmond's best scoring chances were denied. With the win, Bendon earned her third shutout of the season and sixth win.

Saint Joseph's returns to action on Sunday when it hosts La Salle at 1 p.m. Prior to the match, the Hawks will host their annual alumna game and luncheon starting at 10:30 a.m. SJU almnuae can register for Sunday's event here.
