Women's Lacrosse 2018 Newcomer Spotlight: Sam McGee

This offseason, the Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse program will individually introduce its 13 newest Hawks. With the departure of nine letterwinners, including a trio of starters, from last year’s team, this incoming group comprised of six attackers, four midfielders, two defenders, and a goalkeeper will add to a Hawks squad that is coming off of a program-record, 11-win season, which was capped by a run at the 2017 Atlantic 10 Championship Tournament, and will play under the direction of fourth-year head coach Alex Kahoe.

#31 Sam McGee
A 5-7 Abington, Pa. Abington Food Marketing
A two-time U.S. Lacrosse High School All-American, McGee recorded 334 career points on 253 goals and 81 assists at Abington Senior High School, where she scored 50-plus goals every season, including 85 as a junior. McGee was twice named the Intelligencer Player of the Year (2016-17) and is a three-time All-Intelligencer First Team selection, also earning Honorable Mention recognition as a freshman. The incoming attacker was selected the 2017 Suburban One League MVP last spring and is a three-time Suburban One League First Team selection, also earning Second Team recognition as a freshman. A 2017 U.S. Lacrosse All-PASLA Team pick, McGee was twice named to the National Tournament Philly Team (2015-16) and Under Armour Underclassman Philly Team (2015-16) and was a 2016 Heather Leigh Albert Award finalist. The Abington, Pennsylvania native led her squad to 55 wins over her four-year career. A two-sport athlete at Abington Senior High School, McGee also lettered in field hockey, where she was a two-time Suburban One All-League Honorable Mention and broke the program’s career and single-season points records. Lacrosse runs in the family as McGee’s father, Jason, played Division II lacrosse at West Chester and cousin, Ryan, recorded 175 points (107g, 68a) here on Hawk Hill between 2011-15.
