MERION STATION, Pa. - Seniors Claire Minnoe and Sarah Contrata picked up singles wins, but the Saint Joseph's women's tennis dropped a tight match to Siena in a brisk match at the SJU Tennis Complex on Sunday.

Minnoe topped Ali Garrity, 6-4, 6-4 at the top flight, while Contrata was a 4-6, 6-0, 6-4 victor at the sixth flight over Juliana Goehner.

Siena would go on to take the match though with wins at the other four singles flights and capturing the doubles points.

"Siena has a solid squad and today was one of those matches we need to tough out under very adverse cold conditions against a very tough competitive squad," said Saint Joseph's head coach Ian Crookenden. "Even though we lost, the ladies fought hard and the benefits of will be apparent in future contests."

The Hawks are back in action on Tuesday when they hose Lehigh at 2:30 p.m.
