TOWSON, Md. - The Saint Joseph's women's tennis team opened its 2016-17 slate this past weekend at the Towson Tiger Classic.

Playing matches versus Delaware, Georgetown, Rhode Island and host Towson, the Hawks were led by junior Maureen Devlin as she posted singles victories against Towson's Sophire Lesage (6-4, 6-2) and Rhode Island's Rachel Smilansky (6-3, 2-6, 10-8).

"It was a good weekend for the ladies to get over their first match gitters," said SJU head coach Ian Crookenden. "It was gratifying for Maureen Devlin as she played very strongly and had some good results."

The Hawks competed in four matches consisting of four singles matches and one doubles match versus each team. The results do not count towards the team's overall record.
