Saint Joseph's junior DeAndre' Bembry is one of 20 college players nationally to be invited to the inaugural Nike Basketball Academy. He will participate in the camp held at the Santa Monica Airport Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif., from June 26-29.
This camp brings together the nation's top high school and college guards, wings and bigs where they will be instructed by some of Nike's top athletes, including LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis.
Bembry, an Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team selection, led the Atlantic 10 in scoring this past season, both in overall games (17.7 ppg) and in conference games (19.1 ppg), becoming the first Saint Joseph's player ever to win the conference's scoring title.
In addition to leading Saint Joseph's in scoring, Bembry topped the Hawks in rebounding (7.7), assists (3.6), steals (1.9) and minutes played (38.6). He scored double figures in 28 games, while recording 20-plus points in 13 games and posting six double-doubles on the year. He ranked among the top 15 in the Atlantic 10 in 10 of 13 categories.
Bembry led the nation in minutes played with 38.6 per game.
He was also named to the USBWA District 2 Team and to the NABC All-District 4 First Team.
