Nora McGeever Tabbed Finalist for Yeardley Love Award

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse senior captain Nora McGeever has been selected one of five finalists for the 2015 Yeardley Reynolds Love Unsung Hero Award, it was announced on Tuesday morning.

The Yeardley Reynolds Love ("YRL") Unsung Hero Award recognizes the accomplishments of two student-athletes (one male, one female) who demonstrate dedication, integrity, humility, hard work, community service, leadership, kindness and sportsmanship - all qualities Yeardley Love exemplified throughout her life. These student-athletes make a significant contribution to the team in ways that may not be measured in goals, saves or ground balls.

"Nora is an excellent representation of what it means to be a committed, hard-working student-athlete," said head coach Alex Kahoe. "While extremely dedicated to pushing herself to be the best she can be both on and off the field, Nora has always put her teammates first. We are so proud of her for being selected a finalist for this very special award."

McGeever is joined by Elyse Andrews of the University of Delaware, Mary Sean Wilcox of the University of Florida, Ali Curwin of James Madison University, and Katherine McManus of the University of Notre Dame.

One Love will announce its winner in May; each winner will choose a charity to receive a donation on their behalf and will receive a silver bowl to commemorate this high honor.

One Love's goal is to educate, empower and activate young people in a movement to end relationship violence.

McGeever and the Hawks conclude the 2015 season this Friday, April 24 vs. La Salle at 4:00 p.m. on Sweeney Field.
