Meet A Hawk: Nora McGeever

Every Monday, the Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse program will highlight one member of its 2014-15 squad. Leading us into our 13th week and first Monday of 2015 will be senior captain Nora McGeever, a goalkeeper out of Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania!

1. Why did you choose Saint Joseph's?
I chose Saint Joseph's because I grew up being a Hawks fan. Many of my family members attended SJU, and I loved coming to the men and women's basketball games growing up. I also wanted to stay close to home and continue my Catholic education and knew St. Joe's would be the perfect fit for me.

2. What is your favorite thing about Hawk Hill?
I love the rich tradition of Saint Joseph's and have been fortunate to have gotten to know so many great people who have an infectious spirit and passion for Hawk Hill that have greatly impacted me throughout my time here. Hawk Hill feels like home, and every day I step on campus, I feel so proud to be a Hawk.

3. Where is your favorite place on Hawk Hill?
My favorite place is in the Hall of Fame room. When you look out the front windows, you see the best view of campus overlooking Sweeney Field, Mandeville, Barbelin, and the Post Learning Commons: all of my favorite spots on campus.

4. What is the best course you've taken or are currently taking at Saint Joseph's?
My favorite course I took was two semesters of food chemistry with Joanne Crossan.

5. What is your major at Saint Joseph's? Dream job?
Food marketing, because it is a great program at SJU and there are so many opportunities in the food industry. My dream job would be to be a cast member on Saturday Night Live, but if that doesn't work out, I would love to eventually come back and work at SJU.

6. Do you have any pregame rituals?
My favorite pregame ritual is leading the cheer in the locker room before we walk down to the field for our warm-up.

7. What is your favorite thing to do while not playing lacrosse?
Spending time with my family and friends and catching up on my favorite TV shows.

8. What is your favorite lacrosse memory?
The spring break trip we took to North and South Carolina and beating LaSalle at home during my sophomore year.

9. Do you have any hidden talents?
I do some pretty accurate imitations of my teammates and some say I could even beat Kelly Phelan in a dance-off.

10. Who is your favorite professional team and athlete?
All of the Philly teams, and I really don't have one favorite athlete. My family and I are also big Notre Dame football fans.

11. Who is your favorite musical artist?
I'm a big fan of Ed Sheeran right now and One Direction is always a good jam.

12. If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Time travel. I think it would be cool to be able to go back in time to experience different historical periods and even relive moments in my own life.

13. What is your favorite food? Favorite restaurant?
Sweet potatoes and anything chocolate. My favorite restaurant is the Manayunk Tavern.

14. If you were stranded on an island, what three things would you bring with you?
1. My younger brother Jack.
2. The full series of both The Office and Gilmore Girls .
3. Several pairs of clean socks – I can't sleep without wearing socks.

15. If you could have dinner with three people, past or present, who would they be?
1. Kristen Wiig – she is hilarious and seems like a fun time. I would love to meet her.
2. My great grandmother “Nan” – my family always tell stories about her and I would love to meet her and experience that in person.
3. Pope Francis – who wouldn't want to have dinner with the Pope?

16. Who is your hero?
My two heroes are my grandmother, Violet McGeever, and my Aunt Kathy.
