ORLANDO, FLA. – Langston Galloway scored 26 points making six three-pointers as Saint Joseph’s (3-2) defeated Siena, 78-66, in the second round of the 2013 Old Spice Classic at HP Field House at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports. The Hawks will now meet Washington State (3-3) in the fifth-place game on Sunday, December 1 at noon, with the telecast on ESPNU.

With his 6-for-10 effort from beyond the arc, Galloway moved into second place on the Hawks’ all-time list with 249 three-point field goals made. The Hawks’ all-time leader is Pat Carroll (2002-05) with 294.

Ronald Roberts, Jr. added 19 points for the Hawks, hitting 9-of-13 from the field, while Halil Kanacevic added 11 points and six rebounds.

Saint Joseph’s scored the first nine points of the game, with five from Chris Wilson, and forced five Siena turnovers in the first four minutes. The Hawks kept Siena scoreless until a free throw at 15:47 while the Saints didn’t score their first field goal until 13:45, when Rob Poole hit the first of his three three-pointers.

Saint Joseph’s increased its lead to 25-11 on back-to-back baskets by Kanacevic, who made 4-of-6 from the field in the half. The Hawks doubled Siena’s score, 32-16, on a dunk by Galloway at 6:47 and the senior hit another pair of threes to increase SJU’s margin to 20 by halftime.

Galloway connected on four of his first five three-point attempts of the game and tallied 16 points in the first half to help SJU build up a 46-26 lead by halftime. Kanacevic and Roberts added 10 points apiece in the first half.

The teams suffered through a foul-plagued second half, as 29 total fouls were called and there were 39 free throws. The Saints cut the SJU lead ito 68-56, but Galloway hit his sixth three-pointer of the game to put the Hawks back up by 15 points, 71-65, with over four minutes to play.

Siena (2-6) closed to within 72-60 with 2:51 to play, but a thunderous dunk by Roberts off a lob from Evan Maschmeyer seemed to seal the win with 2:34 to play.

Saint Joseph’s connected on 8-of-15 three-point attempts in the game, rebounding from a dismal 3-for-16 effort in the loss to LSU the previous night.

Lavon Long led Siena with 13 points while Rob Poole had 12 and Maurice White scored 10.
