PHILADELPHIA - Ramone Moore scored 17 points to lead #23 Temple (21-5; 11-2 A-10) to a 66-52 win over Saint Joseph's in an Atlantic 10 and Big 5 contest at the Liacouras Center. Langston Galloway had 17 points to lead the Hawks (7-19; 2-10).

After Temple seemed to break it open early in the second half with a 44-28 lead, the Hawks made their move and cut it to 48-40 on a three-pointer by Carl Jones at just over the 10-minute mark. But Temple would use an 8-2 to quickly regain the double-digit lead as a dunk by Lavoy Allen put the Owls back up, 56-42. Temple would lead by as much as 18 points and SJU would only score eight points over the final seven minutes.

Saint Joseph's held a very early lead in the game, but an 11-0 Temple run gave the home team a 20-11 lead at 10:24 of the first half. Saint Joseph's countered with a 7-0 run, which included a three-pointer by Charoy Bentley, to pull within 20-18 at 7:29. But Temple would end the half with an 8-2 run to hold a 35-23 edge at halftime.

"The biggest thing was going to be rebounding and in the first half we had them with four offensive rebounds. Off of those rebounds, they had five points. It doesn't seem like much, but when you're in a 12-point difference, that's big, especially when you're trying to play a certain way. We would like to play to a 55-point game, but that's what our shooting dictates," said Hawk coach Phil Martelli.

Jones was the only other Hawk in double figures with 11 points. SJU only got to the foul line eight times, making seven shots, while it shot 42 percent from the field.

Allen had 14 points and 12 rebounds, while becoming the Owls' all-time leader in career rebounds. Juan Fernandez had 12 points and Rahlir Jefferson scored 11.

Saint Joseph's, which goes 0-4 in the Big 5 for the first time since 1977-78, has lost two in a row. The Hawks go on the road to face Massachusetts on Wednesday.
