BOSTON (AP) - Ahmad Nivins scored 18 points and matched his career high with 13 rebounds Saturday night to lead Saint Joseph's to a 57-48 victory over Boston University, the Hawks' third win over the Terriers in less than a year.
Saint Joseph's (2-1) won despite not scoring a field goal over the final 9:03 and shooting 3-for-20 from 3-point range.
The Hawks, who trailed by as many as seven in the first half, took a 49-33 lead with 9:03 left and scored just eight free throws the rest of the way, but BU (1-2) could get no closer than seven points.
Scott Brittain led the Terriers with 14 points and nine rebounds, but Saint Joseph's took away BU's outside game. The Terriers turned the ball over 20 times and went just 1-for-12 from 3-point range.
Corey Lowe was held to five points on 2-for-11 shooting, 0-for-5 from behind the arc.
Saint Joseph's also beat BU last Nov. 27 in Philadelphia and then upended the Terriers in the consolation game of the Holiday Festival in New York just over a month later.
