WORCESTER, Mass. - Sophomore Justin Crosgile scored 19 points in 25 minutes off the bench and C.J. Aiken added 10 points as the Saint Joseph's men's basketball team defeated Holy Cross, 65-54, on Tuesday night at the Hart Center. Crosgile connected on a career-high five three-pointers in the contest.

The win snapped a six-game losing streak for the Hawks and marked the squad's first victory in the month of December.

Saint Joseph's (4-8) started out extremely cold, missing its first eight shots and scoring only two points in the first six minutes on free throws by senior Idris Hilliard as Holy Cross (1-10) held a 5-2 lead. But freshman Daryus Quarles broke the skid with a three-pointer at 14:36, and from there the Hawks would score eight straight points and take a 10-5 lead.

Sophomore Carl Jones heated up from the field and scored nine points in just over a minute to give the Hawks a 26-12 lead, their biggest of the half. SJU went into the locker room with a 31-23 lead as Crosgile added a pair of threes in the opening period.

The Hawks opened it up midway through the second half as Crosgile hit back-to-back three-pointers to give SJU its biggest lead of the game, 53-36, at 9:06.

Holy Cross cut it to 62-51 with under two minutes to play, but Langston Galloway and Crosgile went 4-for-4 from the foul line in the final 30 seconds to close it out for the Crimson and Gray.

Saint Joseph's closes out the 2010 portion of its schedule on Friday, December 31, with a 4:00 p.m. tip against Siena at Hagan Arena.
