HAVERFORD, Pa. – Sophomore long sprinter Caroline Duffy scored in three events to lead the Saint Joseph’s women’s track and field squad to a fourth-place team finish at the season-opening Jack Pyrah Invitational, hosted by Villanova and held at Haverford’s Alumni Field House on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks totaled 70 points, behind Villanova (157.5 points), Norfolk State (133.5), and La Salle (97).

Duffy finished third in a field of 22 in the 300m (41.20 PR), edging out Moore Elite's Isattah Kannah in her heat, and sixth in a field of 18 in her first collegiate 60m (8.00) to record 11 points in individual events and anchored the second-place 4x400m relay for 10 additional points.

Junior Nathaniela Bourdeau, senior Steph Toland, and junior Kelly Liebl raced the first three legs of the second-place 4x400m relay, which clocked in at 3:58.55. The group picked up 10 points, finishing as the top collegiate relay as the runner-up to Juventus Track Club out of Philadelphia.

Bourdeau also finished fifth in the 60m (7.75) while Toland took ninth in the 300m  (42.97 PR) to add additional scoring performances out of their individual events.

Sophomore Tamar Bourdeau also earned a top-three finish, clocking in with a 500m time of 1:21.83 for third and 10 points as the top collegiate finisher.

Sophomore Maggie Maguire earned fourth in the 800m (2:24.32) and freshman Thi Nguyen earned fifth in the mile (5:55.81 PR) in her collegiate debut to score for the Crimson and Gray.

Senior Claudine Andre added a third-place finish in a field of 14 in the long jump (5.26m) and a sixth-place showing in the 60m hurdles (9.55) to score in both events while junior Kelly Liebl (LJ, 5.12m), junior Bridget McNierney (60H, 9.73 and LJ, 5.06m) and sophomore Aliyah Stokes (60m, 8.15) added scoring performances.

SJU scored in all three of its 4x400m relays as the Hawks earned second-, sixth-, and seventh-place finishes. T. Bourdeau, sophomore Karley Hess, sophomore Sophia Recchilungo, and senior Alex Edger (4:08.59) and freshman Alicia Forrest, sophomore Monica Higgins, Maguire, and sophomore Emily Clayton followed up SJU’s second-place 4x400m relay.

Saint Joseph’s returns to action in the new year when the Hawks travel to the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, N.Y. for the Wagner College Invitational on Friday, January 5th. The meet is slated to begin at 2:00 p.m.
