Returning to Hawk Hill and serving as the pitching coach on Shawn Pender's staff for the second consecutive season is Rich Coletta, a 1992 graduate of Saint Joseph's. A three-year starter for the Hawks, he previously spent 12 years as a coach at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School in suburban Philadelphia.

Coletta was an assistant coach at Plymouth Whitemarsh for nine seasons before taking over the reins as head coach from 2002-04. His teams captured five league crowns, one district title and a state championship in 1994. That team was ranked sixth in the nation by USA TODAY.

He has also coached in the prestigious Cape Cod League for three seasons with the Harwich Mariners organization. Twenty of his former players went on to be named Division I All-Americans, eight played in the College World Series and one captured an NCAA title. He has had more than fifty of his former players selected in the Major League Baseball draft, including one in the first round each of the last three years.

He continues to be active as a guest speaker and instructor on the baseball clinic and showcase circuit.

As a player, Coletta started at second base and third base for the Crimson and Gray from 1989-92 under former SJU mentor Chris Loschiavo.

Coletta has taught Biology and microbiology at Plymouth Whitemarsh for 13 years. He resides in Colegeville, Pa. with his wife Sloane.
