Nelson and West form what is arguably the best backcourt in the nation, leading the second-ranked and unbeaten Hawks. Nelson, also a candidate for National Player of the Year honors, averages 20.1 points and 5.4 assists per game. West is scoring 18.9 points per game, while handing out 4.8 assists. Both players are shooting over 50 percent from the field for the Hawks.
Nelson has earned the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week award six times this season, with West earning it three times.
Joining the Hawks on the All-District 2 first team are Andre Barrett (Seton Hall), David Hawkins (Temple) and Carl Krauser (Pittsburgh). The All-District 2 second team is comprised of Keydren Clark (St. Peter's), Jaron Brown (Pittsburgh), Gary Neal (La Salle), Julius Page (Pittsburgh) and John Jagla (Penn State).
The 23-0 Hawks look to keep their perfect record intact on Saturday, Feb. 21 in a clash with Atlantic 10 and Big 5 rival Temple at The Palestra. Game time is 4 p.m.
