PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's University baseball team has signed two players during the early signing period, Erik Holman (Bridgeton, NJ) a right-handed pitcher from Cumberland County College and Matt DiGirolamo (Ardmore, PA) a first baseman from Haverford High School. Both have chosen Hawk Hill to continue their careers and will join SJU for the 2002 season. Holman, who finished 4th in the nation with a 1.54 ERA, was named a 3rd team NJCAA All-American in 2000 at Cumberland County College. He registered 41 strikeouts and 18 walks in 52 innings of work for the Dukes. He was also honored as a 1st team Region XIX and Garden State Athletic Conference pick. DiGirolamo, a first basemen, as well as a pitcher, was a second team All-Delaware County selection as a junior. He hit .440 with 3 HR and 14 RBI. Selected to the 2000 Carpenter Cup Team, he helped the Fords to a spot in the PIAA Class AAA District One baseball tournament.
