PHILADELPHIA - Funeral arrangements have been set for former Saint Joseph's basketball player Charles McKenna '66, who passed away on November 2.
His funeral will be held at the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral home in Danvers, MA (167 Maple St.) on Wednesday at 10 a.m., followed by a Mass at St. Mary of the Annunciation Church in Danvers (Conant St.) at 11 a.m. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, his family would appreciate donations in his memory to the Keith Koster Memorial Scholarship Fund (PO Box 63, Boxford, MA 01921) or the Saint Joseph's Hawk Athletic Fund.
McKenna played for the Hawks from 1964 to 1966 under coach Jack Ramsay, and was a senior on the team that was ranked number one in the nation by Sports Illustrated in the preseason of 1965-66. A native of Lansdowne, PA, he averaged 7.7 points his senior year. He also excelled in the classroom, earning recognition on the Dean's List and receiving a post-graduate scholarship from the NCAA.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, their seven children and four grandchildren.
