PHILADELPHIA (05/16/02) - Saint Joseph's University has signed Mike Williams of St. Raphael (R.I.) Academy and Chris Cologer of Globe Institute of Technology to National Letters of Intent to play men's basketball. This completes SJU's recruiting class for the upcoming 2002-03 season. Williams, a 6-5, 260-poind averaged 19 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and 2.5 steals per game while earning USA Today and Gatorade State Player of the Year Honors as a senior. A two-time first team all-State honoree, the Pawtucket, R.I. native helped lead St. Raphael's to four straight State Championships during his high school career. Cologer, a 6-11, 210-pound center played two seasons at Globe Institute, averaging 7.1 points and 4.4 rebounds per game last season. The French native, who is noted for his defense and shot-blocking ability, will have two years of eligibility at Saint Joseph's. Williams and Cologer will join Dwayne Lee, a 6-foot guard out of St. Anthony's Prep (N.J.), Dave Mallon, a 6-foot-10 forward out of East Aurora High (N.Y.) and Chet Stachitas, a 6-foot-5 guard/forward out of Nease High (Fla.), all of whom signed in the early signing period.
