PHILADELPHIA - Phil and Judy Martelli, along with the city's college basketball coaches and their wives, will host the American Cancer Society's Sixth Annual Coaches vs. Cancer BasketBall on Saturday, April 18. The black-tie event at the Park Hyatt at the Bellevue will also feature exclusive items in both live and silent auctions.
The Philadelphia Coaches vs. Cancer group is comprised of Martelli, Temple's Fran Dunphy, Villanova's Jay Wright, Drexel's Bruiser Flint, La Salle's John Giannini and Penn's Glen Miller and is one of the top fundraising groups in the nation for Coaches vs. Cancer.
This year's goal is to raise $1 million.
The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails and the silent auction. Dinner, the program and live auction begin at 7:30 p.m. Among the featured items in the live auction is the chance to play against the coaches on the floor of the Palestra.
Tickets are $300 per person, with a 10-person corporate table costing $ 3,500. A new "Young Professionals" aspect has been added to the gala, with those ages 25-35 invited to attend for a reduced cost of $85 per person beginning at 9 p.m. Advertising and sponsorship opportunities are also available.
