PHILADELPHIA (10/31/02) The 2002-03 Saint Joseph's University men's basketball team will take the court in one week for its first open exhibition of the season, Hawk Hoop Hysteria, on Friday night, November 8. Now in its third season, the brainchild of SJU head coach Phil Martelli, Hawk Hoop Hysteria features the largest gathering of former Saint Joseph's players, coaches, managers and Hawk mascots. Last year, the grand total that attended the night was 121, and Martelli said at the annual SJU Basketball Downtown Luncheon this past Wednesday that the goal is to better that number. Following an alumni game which starts at 7:30 p.m., this year's Hawk team will take the court for an intrasquad scrimmage. Even hardcore SJU fans will need a program this season as the Hawks feature eight players that will be putting on the Crimson and Gray for the first time this season. Season ticket holders should plan to attend as they will be able to pick up their Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse tickets as well as tickets for the DePaul game at the Palestra. Tickets for the Drexel game on December 7, part of the Big Five Classic, will also be available at that time. Any packages not picked up at Hawk Hoop Hysteria will be mailed on November 11. Note to season ticket holders, tickets for additional SJU home games at the Palestra (Penn, Villanova and Temple) will be available no later than the Hawks' home opener against Old Dominion on December 1.
