NEW YORK, N.Y. - Former Saint Joseph's standout Dwayne Jones has been named to the West Team for the fourth annual NBA D-League All-Star Game, which will be played on Saturday, Feb. 13 at the NBA All-Star Jam Session in Dallas, Texas. The game will tip off at 2 p.m. CT on Jam Session's Center Court and will be shown live on NBA TV.
Jones, who plays for the Austin Toros, leads the NBA D-League in rebounding (15.3 per game) and in field goal percentage (62 percent).
Twenty of the NBA D-League's top prospects were selected as All-Stars by a combination of fan balloting on and voting by the league's 16 head coaches.
While at Saint Joseph's, the 6-11 center from Chester, Pa., established himself as one of the top rebounders and shot blockers in college basketball. Jones ranked fifth in the nation with rebounding with 11.6 per game and fifth in blocked shots with 3.0. He was the Hawks' third leading scorer in 2005 with 10.1 points per game, while becoming the first SJU player since 1995-96 to average a double-double. In his career, he totalled 831 rebounds, 694 points and ranks second on the school's all-time list with 232 blocked shots.
The 2005 graduate of SJU was named the 2005 Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year and earned All-Conference and All-Big 5 second team honors. He was selected to both the Atlantic 10 Championship and to the NIT All-Tournament teams, as the Hawks reached the finals in both tournaments, while posting a 24-12 record.
