Ahmad Nivins Named Big 5 Player of the Week

PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's junior Ahmad Nivins has been named the Big 5 Player of the Week after helping the Hawks to two victories last week.

Nivins averaged 22 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots as the Hawks opened the Atlantic 10 Conference season defeating UMass and Richmond.

The 6-9 forward had a career-best game at UMass, notching 31 points on 13-for-18 shooting. Nivins had 20 points in the first half alone and then added 12 rebounds and a career-best six blocked shots.

Against Richmond, Nivins had 13 points and went 7-for-7 from the foul line.

On the season, Nivins is averaging 15.0 points and 7.1 rebounds.

Saint Joseph's (9-4; 2-0 A-10), looking for its sixth straight win, travels to Charlotte on Wednesday.
