PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's redshirt freshman Ryan McDonald was selected as the Big 5 Baseball Player of the Week on Tuesday. The award, voted on by the head coaches and sports information directors of the city's five Division I baseball teams, has now been given to an SJU player for each of the first three weeks of the season.

McDonald notched a .583 batting average last week in five games in Winter Park, Fla. He was 3-for-3 with a double, a home run, and three RBIs as the Hawks pounded Holy Cross, 16-4, on March 4. He followed that game up with a 3-for-5 performance with two runs scored and another RBI in SJU's 11-7 loss to Georgetown later that afternoon.

McDonald follows Jeremy Jakubowski (2/26) and Mike Boyland (3/5) as winners of the Big 5 Baseball Player of the Week award.

La Salle's Kevin Fuqua was named the Big 5 Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
