Rap Curry to be inducted into the Big 5 Hall of Fame

PHILADELPHIA - Former Saint Joseph's standout Rap Curry will be of four inductees into the Philadelphia Big 5 Hall of Fame at a luncheon held at The Palestra on Friday, January 18. The Class of 2008 will also be honored halftime of the Saint Joseph's-Penn game at The Palestra on Saturday, January 19.

Joining Curry in the class are Donnie Carr of La Salle, James "Booney" Salters of Penn, and women's player Claudrena Harold of Temple.

Curry starred at Saint Joseph's from 1990-94. A three-time All-Big 5 selection, he still ranks second on the Hawks' all-time assist list with 580. The guard led the Hawks in steals during three seasons and currently ranks seventh on SJU's list with 195.

The native of Landsowne, PA, and graduate of Penn Wood High School scored 1,372 points in his career, the 19th best all-time.

Curry was inducted into the Saint Joseph's Men's Basketball Hall of Fame in 1999.
