PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's is seeded 12th in the 2010 Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Championship and will travel to fifth-seeded Rhode Island on Tuesday, March 9 for a First Round game. Tipoff at the Ryan Center is 7 p.m.
The Hawks earned the spot by way of their 74-59 win over La Salle on Saturday, finishing the regular season with a 5-11 Atlantic 10 mark. SJU has won two in a row and owns an 11-19 overall record.
Rhode Island is 9-7 in the conference and 21-8 overall.
The Rams won the only meeting with the Hawks this season, which was a 101-74 victory on January 13.
The winner of the Saint Joseph's-Rhode Island game will advance to the Atlantic 10 Quarterfinals to play fourth-seeded Saint Louis. That game will take place at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 12 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J.
