ELON, N.C. - The Saint Joseph's baseball team concluded its spring break trip to North Carolina, falling 11-2 to Elon on Wednesday afternoon. Brett Tiagwad drove in both Hawk runs with a triple in the seventh inning.

Elon (9-5) got on the board in the bottom of the first on an RBI single by Alex Swim. The Phoenix doubled their lead on a Niko Fraser single in the second.

The lead swelled again in the third on yet another single, this one by Matt Kirchner, coming with two outs and runners on second and third. Kirchner later came around to score on an error to make it 5-0 in favor of the home team.

The Phoenix extended the lead to 7-0 with singletons in the fourth and sixth on another single by Swim and a balk.

Saint Joseph's (5-8) broke through for a pair in the top of the seventh when Tiagwad ripped a triple to right center that scored both Joe Cook and Quinn Renner.

Seth Canipe hit a one-out single in the bottom of the eighth to score a pair before Kirchner added his second two-run hit of the day to push the final margin to 11-2.

Saint Joseph's returns home for its next seven games and will play 10 of the next 11 at Campbell's Field. The Hawks will take on Iona, Cornell, and Mount St. Mary's this weekend. First pitch against the Gaels is set for 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
