PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's Phil Martelli is among the coaches from across the nation who is contributing to the "Coaches Care" online auction beginning Wednesday, September 14, to raise money for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. All money raised will go directly to Habitat for Humanity, a non-profit organization that builds homes for low income families.
Martelli is teaming up with Pennsylvania coach Fran Dunphy to contribute to the cause. Fans can bid on a lunch for two people with both Big 5 coaches. Click here for the auction.
The auction includes items donated from many professional and college teams. The complete list of items and instructions for participating in the auction can be found at www.allcoachescare.com. The Martelli/Dunphy lunch is item number 33 in the auction.
"The very essence of being a good person is reaching and helping others. At this time it is our responsibility to be good people," said Martelli.
The goal of the organizers is to raise money through an online auction and cash donations. AllCoachNetwork.com will administer the auction in conjunction with Snappy Auctions eBay Drop-Off Stores. SnappyAuctions.com will handle all of the listing and shipping of items for the auction, which begins on Sept. 14 on eBay.
