Govens Named Big 5 Player of the Week

PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's senior guard Darrin Govens has been named Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week, organization officials announced Monday. Govens averaged 18 points four assists and three rebounds per game as the Hawks went 2-0 on the week.

At George Washington on Wednesday, Govens paced Saint Joseph's with a game-high 19 points and added four assists and four rebounds in the Hawks' 80-71 win over the Colonials. In a "must win" situation on Saturday, Govens helped SJU secure the final bid in this week's Atlantic 10 Tournament as he finished with 17 points, four assists and a pair of rebounds as the Hawks' closed out its regular season with a 74-59 win over La Salle.

Govens and the Hawks open Atlantic 10 Tournament play Tuesday at Rhode Island. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at the Ryan Center.
