PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's senior Pat Carroll was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week and the Big 5 Co-Player of the Week for January 30 as he averaged 23.0 points in two games. Included in that was a career-high 29 points in the Hawks' win over Xavier on national television.
It marks the third time in his career that the senior has earned Player of the Week honors. Carroll shares the Big 5 citation with Allan Ray of Villanova.
Carroll had a personal best 29 points on 7-for-11 shooting from 3-point range against the Musketeers. He also posted five rebounds, three steals, and two blocked shots while hitting 9-of-15 shots from the floor.
Earlier in the week, Carroll scored a team-high 17 points in a non-league loss to Pennsylvania.
For the week, Carroll shot 15-28 (.536) from the floor, 10-18 (.556) from three, and 6-9 (.667) from the foul line.
Carroll has heated up from the perimeter in the month of January, converting 52.3 percent (33-for-63) from 3-point range. He is now averaging a team-high 15.7 points per game.
The Hawks travel to St. Bonaventure on Wednesday, February 2, for a 7 p.m. game.
