PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's freshman guard Darrin Govens will have surgery on Friday to repair a fracture in the fourth metacarpal of his right hand. His timetable for return to the court is still undetermined, but he will begin rehabilitation immediately and be evaluated on a weekly basis.
Govens, from Chester, PA, fell on his hand early in the first half of the Hawks' season-opening 63-47 win over Fairfield on Tuesday evening. He played a total of 12 minutes in the first half, but then sat out the entire second half.
Saint Joseph's travels to Lafayette on Friday evening before returning to Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse to host Bucknell on Sunday, November 19 at 2 p.m.
