PHILADELPHIA - Scootie Randall scored 17 points and Lavoy Allen had 15 points and 12 rebounds to lead Temple to a 72-54 win over Saint Joseph's in Atlantic 10 action at The Palestra.

Ronald Roberts scored a career-high 17 points off the bench on 8-for-11 shooting. The loss is SJU's eighth in a row.

Holding an 11-10 lead, Temple broke it open with a 12-0 run, to take a 23-10 lead on a three-pointer by Randall with 7:28 to play in the first half. The Owls maintained the double-digit advantage the rest of the half, owning a 32-22 lead at the intermission.

The second half was more of the same as Temple started the period with a 9-2 run, with four points from Allen, to move ahead, 41-24. The Hawks used a 9-2 run of their own, with threes from Hilliard and Daryus Quarles, and a three-point play by Roberts, to close to 43-33. But Temple answered that with a quick 9-0 spurt to take a 52-33 lead with 13:23 remaining. The Hawks fell behind by 20 points when T.J. DiLeo's layup gave Temple a 68-48 advantage with 5:42 remaining.

Temple held a commanding 38-23 edge in rebounding and shot 49 percent in the game, compared to the Hawks' 37.5 percent.

Hilliard scored nine points and had seven rebounds to end his three-game double-figure scoring streak.

After three consecutive games at the Palestra, the Hawks go on the road to visit Richmond on Wednesday.
