NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Saint Joseph's graduate student Alex Pracher was named the Atlantic 10 Baseball Co-Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon. Pracher received the honor after his two-hit shutout of George Washington on Saturday.

Pracher shared the honor with Leif Sorenson of Massachusetts.

Pracher allowed just two hits and five walks while striking out 10 in Saturday's 4-0 win over the Colonials that clinched the weekend series for the Hawks. After loading the bases with two down in the first, he got out of the inning with a strikeout and didn't look back, retiring seven straight batters early on and not allowing a hit over the final four and a third innings of the game.

The Marlton, N.J. native lowered his earned run average for the season by a half a run with Saturday's performance, his third complete game and first shutout of the season. Pracher also ranks among the league leaders in innings pitched and strikeouts.

The Hawks travel to Seton Hall on Tuesday for a non-conference tilt before returning to Hawk Hill to host La Salle for a weekend series. First pitch at Smithson Field is set for 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hawks will also honor the members of the Class of 2012 with the annual Senior Day presentation before the game.
