PHILADELPHIA (4/07/03) - Displaying a flair for the dramatic, Saint Joseph's University senior Mike DeLorenzo has been named the National Hitter of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, as well as the Atlantic 10 Conference co-player of the week. The Fairfield, N.J. native cracked a pair of two-out walk-off home runs versus A-10 West leader Duquesne over the weekend. He hit a two-run shot on Saturday to give SJU a 4-2 win. Then with the Hawks trailing 3-2 on Sunday, DeLorenzo hit his second game-winning home run to propel Saint Joseph's to the 4-3 victory. He had four RBI and scored four runs while collecting three hits in nine at-bats (.333). He entered the Duquesne series with three career homers. Richmond sophomore Jim Fasano shared the player of the week honor with DeLorenzo. He hit four home runs, had 10 RBI and batted .467 for the week.
