NORRISTOWN, PA - Temple (9-22, 2-8 A-10) erupted for 15 hits, including four home runs, and cruised to a 14-0 victory over Saint Joseph's (10-25, 5-5 A-10) in Atlantic 10 baseball at Latshaw-McCarthy Field. The second game was scoreless when it was suspended by rain with one out in the bottom of the second inning.
In game one, TU jumped on top quickly scoring four times in the first inning and homering in each of the first three frames off Hawk starter Jason Hessler. They added four more runs in the fifth inning and two in the seventh.
The Owls' Tim Foulkrod (4-4) went the distance, scattering five hits and striking out five without a walk to earn the win. Hessler (2-4) allowed eight runs and seven hits in four innings with four strikeouts and took the loss.
Sophomore Mike Davis had a couple of hits for SJU. TU's Justin Cooper went 4-5 with two runs and two RBI. Dan Brady was 4-4 with two homers, three runs and four RBI. Pete COlon and Harry Ley also hit home runs for the Owls.
The teams will resume the suspended game on Sundat at noon with the scheduled nine inning game to follow.
