PITTSBURGH - Saint Joseph's men's basketball closes out the regular season on Saturday, when the Hawks visit Duquesne. Game time at the A.J. Palumbo Center is noon.
The game will not be televised, but all of the action can be heard on the Saint Joseph's Sports Network via SportsTalk 950 (WPEN-AM) with the broadcast team of Tom McCarthy and Joe Lunardi.
The Hawks are in the midst of their longest winning streak of the season, having won four in a row. SJU is 14-12 and 8-7 in the Atlantic 10. With a win, SJU would secure its six consecutive winning season record and the eighth in Phil Martelli's 11 seasons.
The game is crucial to the Hawks' seeding in the upcoming Atlantic 10 Tournament. An SJU win coupled with a La Salle loss (vs. Saint Louis on Saturday) would boost the Hawks into the fourth seed, thus giving SJU a first-round bye. If SJU and La Salle both win, the Hawks could be in fifth place, depending on the other results in the conference.
The A-10 Tournament in Cincinnati begins on Wednesday, March 8 and concludes with the title game on Saturday evening, March 11.
Duquesne is currently 3-23 and 1-14 in the league. Saint Joseph's has won eight in a row against the Dukes and 14 of the last 15.
