TALLAHASSEE, FL - Senior Nick Baldasari was 2-3 and reached base three times, but Saint Joseph's (0-4) could only muster four hits and one run overall and dropped a 12-1 decision to nationally-ranked Florida State (9-1) at Dick Howser Stadium.
FSU plated seven runs over the first three innings off Hawk starter Ryan Hoagey (0-2), one of four SJU pitchers, and coasted to the victory. In addition to Hoagey, who struckout two in four innings of work, senior Al Braun and sophomore Joel Grimshaw each worked a scoreless inning and freshman Matt Gilbert tossed two frames, allowing three runs.
On a pitch count, FSU's Hunter Jones (2-0) pitched four innings of scoreless three-hit ball to earn the win.
The two teams continue their three game series on Saturday at 2:00 PM.
