Gunn Joins Saint Joseph's Baseball Staff

PHILADELPHIA - Returning to his alma mater and joining Shawn Pender's staff for the 2006 season is Tim Gunn. One of the top power hitters in program history, Gunn assumes the role of the team's hitting coach and and plays an integral role in recruiting.

Prior to returning to SJU, Gunn spent four seasons at Division III Arcadia University. The Knights were highly successful at the plate during his tenure at the suburban Philadelphia school, posting team highs in several categories during his four seasons.

As an undergraduate at SJU, Gunn was a three-year starter at first base. He finished his career in the top 10 all-time in hits, doubles, home runs and RBI. He hit .325 with seven home runs and 16 doubles as a senior. The Hawks finished in the top30 in hitting in the country his junior and senior seasons.

Gunn spent his prep years at St. Joseph's Prep in Philadelphia where he played in the Carpenter's Cup for three seasons and was named first team All-City as a Senior.

In the summer of 2001, Gunn coached the Brooklawn American Legion program that won the National Championship with a final record of 56-4. In 2003, he guided the junior legion squad to the State Final game. In thesummer of 2004, "Gunner" was an Assistant Coach for the Outer Banks Daredevils of the Coastal Plains college summer league, his team finished runner-up on the season. Thispast summer, Gunn coached in the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League with the Brewster Whitecaps.

Gunn received his Master's degree from Arcadia in 2004.
